Helichrysum italicum - Curry plant 0,2–0,3 m

Helichrysum is an evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean regions, whose silvery foliage smells strongly of curry, which is why it is sometimes called the curry plant. A perennial with woody stems that grows to a height of 40-70cm. It blooms from July to September. The flowers are bright yellow and sit at the tips of the shoots. It requires a sunny, warm spot and well-drained soil with little watering. It tolerates drought well, so it is suitable for rock gardens and for gardens with a Mediterranean atmosphere. It attracts butterflies and bees. The flower is used as an ingredient in herbal tea blends for cleansing the body. It is used as a diuretic and as a remedy for relieving inflammation and pain. The essential oil is beneficial for hematomas, edema, insect bites and burns. It is also used in room diffusers, as its active compounds help lift the mood and achieve psycho-emotional balance. The fresh leaves are used as a seasoning for vegetable and meat dishes.
